"I won't lie to you. If you go to the US now, most of
the films people watch are from Ghana.
The Ghanaians spend money on their films and the
filmmakers know exactly what they are doing and
their environment is more conducive for the job.
Who are the directors in Ghana? They are
Nigerians: Paschal Amanfo and Frank Jaja. These
guys were here, but were not doing it well.
They went to Ghana and, because the environment
there is more conducive, they are making it.
Though they still have crappy films over there too,
their films are generally better than what we have
in Nigeria." Says Daniel Ademinokan, popular
movie director, producer, bass guitarist and script
writer.
This revelation, according to some authority in
Nigeria, has not gone down well on them as they
see it as a slam on Nollywood, the giant of Africa."
Here is a Comment from a Fan - might sound
unpatriotic but when it comes to regular/
commercial movies, Ghana is beta. Am saying this
because of some of d Ghana movies I have been
priveledged to watch. Ghana movies like to love a
prince, forbidden fruit, 4 can play, queen lateefah,
chasing hope, hidden secret, trapped in the game,
the game, temptation, etc diz movies has gud story
lines, superb sounds n light effects, nice costumes.
I understand they copy Americans but I love their
style. 20 of Mercy Johnson's movies can never be
compared to any of these Ghana movies I
mentioned. Nigeria keeps talking about past and
imaginary events, they need to blow our minds on
what d future can offer. When it comes to cinema
movies, Nigeria is way better than Ghana.
