Scores of students of Benue State University are protesting the alleged robbery and rape of over 20 students by unknown gunmen. According to reports from Tribune, a group of suspected cultists attacked the female hostel of the Benue State University on Sunday raping at least 20 students. The incident happened at the Technical Block of the school around 10pm. There was no resistance from the school security or police.
The armed men were said to have had a field day without disturbance by the university security operatives. The latest incident was the third in the last one month, as it was gathered that a female student of the university was raped about a week ago by a group of young men numbering four, when she was returning from where she had gone to read around 9.00 p.m. Also, about three weeks ago, a 100-level female student was said to have been shot on campus by unknown gunmen, with her iPad, phones and cash snatched.
